Community Outreach

Prayer Shawl Group

The Prayer Shawl Group crochets and knits beautiful blankets, shawls, and hats to keep newborns warm. They also fashion items to bring comfort to those afflicted by illnesses. If you would like to lend a helping hand, the Prawer Shawl Group meets every Thursday at 10:00am in the Social Hall.

The group is very welcoming and would love to have new people join their ranks. If you're interested, stop by on a Thursday!

Social Ministry Committee

Our Social Ministry Committee was formed in 2009 as a continuation of the health cabinet and it's outreach to the community. The first project was making lunch for the Salvation Army, which later blossomed into Seeds of Hope.

The committee has worked with many charitable organizations over the years, including: the Hazleton Animal Shelter, the SPCA, local food pantries and homeless shelters, VALOR for veterans, Domestic Violence Center, the (Christmas) Giving Tree through Catholic Social Services, God's Work Our Hands, and many more.

Seeds of Hope

Seeds of Hope is a collaborative effort with St. Peter's Episcopal Church that serves a free lunch on the third Saturday of the month from 11:00am to 12:30pm. Join our members in a worthy cause as we strive to feed those who are homeless and hungry.

Christ's Pantry

Extending a helping hand to those who are less fortunate is a crucial tenet of our faith. CLC Hazleton is happy to provide food, toiletries, and personal items free of charge to anyone in need through our Christ's Pantry program, located in the parking lot area of our church. Donations are accepted at the church office Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 1:00pm.

Eucharistic Ministers

This group is granted the ability to administer the sacrament of Holy Communion to those who are homebound or otherwise unable to attend Sunday worship services.

Hazleton Enlarged Ministry Clothing Depot

The Hazleton Enlarged Ministry (HEM) is relocating its operation to Christ Lutheran Church. HEM will lease limited space in the church basement. Their depot is open to the public every Wednesday 10:00am to 11:00am.

Alcoholics Anonymous

This important program helps many people struggling with addiction. This community outreach program is known for successfully helping those who are struggling to take back control of their lives. Meetings are held at CLC every Monday at 12:00pm and every Tuesday at 11:30am.
